The majority of people recognize health as one of the greatest wealth of life. Today, we are more and more aware of it. As a result, many of us are putting in the effort to keep ourselves in better physical shape - a healthier, more balanced diet, exercise, just to name a few. However, there is a problem when a disability prevents physical activity. A sedentary lifestyle is an even more important social problem among the portion of the population with a physical disability. In the greater Montreal area, there are only two organizations that promote physical activity and allow young people to play sports. The main mission of Juni-Sport is to promote active living and physical activity among people aged 7 or more with a physical disability.
According to a study published in 2004 by the Canadian Institute for Health Information "Improving the Health of Canadians", the health status index of a person with a physical disability is improving of 10% just by increasing his or her level of physical activity. In comparison, the same study found that the same change in activity level leads to an increase of only 1% for Canadians without disabilities.
Like most non-profit organizations and in order to continue our operations, we are seeking financial support from businesses in the region, as well as individuals.
Anyone interested by our cause and wishing to provide financial support will receive a donation receipt for tax purposes.
